Memiors of Meredith

February 21: Today we are headed to Omotesandō, an upscale shopping area. As much as I love to shop, I didn’t mind passing all the international designers to get to Studio Katsura. Yes, today was a big day, the geisha makeovers! Actually I was a Maiko.

Apprentice geisha are called Maiko "dance child". A woman entering the geisha community does not have to start out as a Maiko. In fact, a woman above 21 is considered too old to be a maiko and becomes a full geisha upon her initiation into the geisha community. However, those who do go through the maiko stage enjoy more prestige later in their professional lives. ( Wikipedia)

Next, it was time for lunch. We dined at Fujimamas. I ordered Lamb curry, Mango Beer and a chocolate coffee cupcake! Everything was superb!

A few months back, I read about a place called Dashing Diva. It is an international salon chain and I wanted to check it out. Especially for Soror Jamie( ladies check out her blog)! I shopped while my cousin had virtual nails applied.

In Japan, Disney is extremely popular. Some people visit the parks and see the shows multiple times a day, several times a week. No, I am so serious. With that being said, it is no surprise that my cousin has developed a fan base. So we returned to Shin-Urayasu Station to met Moe and Atsuko. First we took sticky pix.

Next we had dinner at a diner. Sort of like a Japanese Dennys. More pictures!

Good Night!
